Welcome to my world of paintings, this is right at the core of my being, my inner sanctum. I’ve always created from a young age. I went to art college in Hastings. I really enjoyed the experience of being immersed in this new world of the imagination. It ignited a fire in me. Being given the time to explore various different mediums and disciplines was invaluable. I got so much from my tutors who were generous with their time and patience, they gave me so much more than l even realised at the time.
I fell in love with oil paints and the different effects that can be achieved. I also love experimenting with mixed media whether it’s acrylic paints, watercolour paints, pastels, spray paint and pencils for definition.
The therapeutic qualities of Art shouldn’t be overlooked or underestimated. From my own experience when l have encountered times of stress, illness, fatigue and mourning l have immersed myself in Art. The act of marking marks on canvas used as a way of communicating when words cannot be materialised has been so beneficial in my life. Paints, brushes and sometimes even my hands have become tools from which to have a conversation.
My journey has been challenging at times but then whose hasn’t. I can honestly say that hand on heart there should be more creativity for everyone in this world. By unearthing the past and coming to terms with it I’ve found my resilience and strengths that l didn’t even know that l possessed. Learning to be kind to yourself first and foremost, not to put yourself under too much pressure or duress lettings things just flow.
Nowadays I work not just as an Artist but also as a Therapeutic Arts Counsellor I split my time between making and selling my Art to helping people in my other role as a Therapeutic Arts Counsellor. I am pleased to use my experience as a graduate from Tobias School of Art and Therapy in East Grinstead where I undertook extensive training in Transpersonal Art Therapy. The teaching was phenomenal, I have learnt a lot about myself and compassion for others. My background as a Therapeutic Arts Counsellor has been working across Sussex and Kent. I have really relished the opportunity to help people learn how to help themselves.
To lose oneself in the process of creativity can be a truly amazing experience. It can help with expressing different emotions. I get tremendous joy and also comfort during my time at work as an Artist. I am lucky to have found two vocations that involve the language of Art.
Enjoy looking at my collections and if you see something that speaks to you and would like more information please do email to have a discussion. Also if you would like to speak to me with regards to Therapeutic Arts Counselling do get in touch and we can have a chat about some sessions. I offer 6 sessions with a review after that. The cost is £50.00 for 50 minute sessions. There is no additional charge for Art materials. I aim to provide a safe environment to explore difficult emotions and you don’t have to be good at Art as it is about the process. I have helped clients who were facing difficult emotions, experiencing grief, anxiety, fear, anger and depression.
Art is for fun!
Here is my first attempt at stone carving proving that Art is for everyone it’s not about the result but the process and enjoyment. This piece is called “Becoming”.
